Our Story of Love & Hope

Hankin Redden Publications was established by John Hankin and his wife Margaret Redden in 2021, born from love in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

In July 2020, Margaret was diagnosed with ampullar cancer—an untreatable, incurable cancer so rare that even Margaret, who worked 30 years as a cancer nurse, had never heard of it. Doctors expected her to be dead by Christmas 2020.

"Margaret proved the medical forecasts were wrong. Her secret to defying death was simple. Margaret radiated LOVE and Hankin Redden Publications has been built on Margaret's love."

Against All Odds

Understanding Ampullar Cancer

The ampulla is a point where the pancreatic duct forms a T junction with the common bile duct. Cancer at this location blocks the digestive system. Death is normally swift.

Margaret, despite 30 years as a cancer nurse, had never encountered this rare disease before her own diagnosis. The medical community gave her very little time.

Margaret proved them wrong through the power of love.

Born From Sorrow, Built With Love

How was a company created against this backdrop of sorrow and pain? Hankin Redden was created to publish a series of works that John wrote before and after Margaret died. A series named ’The Circle of Love’ which chronicles all the events from when Margaret proved the medical forecasts wrong, to John walking the Kokoda Track in 2025

The Postcard From The Moon

Margaret's diagnosis coincided with John's health breakdown—breathing difficulties, swollen stomach, deadly coughing, and inability to eat. During this chaos, John received a mysterious postcard dated August 15, 1914.

To distract from their circumstances, John began translating the seemingly unreadable handwriting, seeking the elusive "Dobson." By December 2022, this quest had become a 330,000-word book.

"The Moon Man was one of thousands of heroes and he was not called Dobson."

The Circle of Love

As John neared completion of his first book, he began writing "The Hankin Redden Story." Remarkably, on July 17, 2023, the story changed its own name to "The Circle of Love."

This book chronicles Margaret's struggle to stay alive and John's nearly fatal health issues, plus their battle to force health insurance companies to honor legitimate cancer treatment claims.

A story of love, determination, and fighting for what's right even in the darkest times.
